Outstanding performer Mary awarded new scholarship
October 2017: In 2011, Kamitei offered an Eagle Scholarship to one of the outstanding students at Kainam Primary School. The scholarship enabled Mary, from Karatu, to attend a high-quality boarding school in Arusha for several years where she stood out as one of the school's top performing students.
Kamitei projects our story at A4C event in Amsterdam
September 2017: On 28th September, a short video of Jeroen (our Board Chair) explaining what Kamitei does was projected on the big screen at the Legends4Legends investment conference held by our long term supporter Alternatives4Children (A4C).
Checking in with our Eagle scholars at Edmund Rice school
March 2017: In March, the Kamitei team visited our Eagle Scholarship students attending the Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School in Arusha to check on their progress and wellbeing.
Inaugural sponsor event hosted in Belgium
February 2017: A day after our annual sponsors' event in Amsterdam, the Kamitei team of Jeroen, Jane and Ageeth travelled to Belgium to attend the inaugural sponsors' event hosted by Hugo Levecke at The Royal Hockey Club in Leuven.
Old and new friends attend annual sponsor event in Amsterdam
February 2017: The annual sponsor event in Amsterdam for 2017 was held in January and we were happy to see so many old and new friends who support Kamitei.
Marar’s new teacher house to reduce teacher absenteeism
September 2016: Not long now and the new teacher house in Marar will be finished. With lack of housing and transport for teachers causing a major blockage to teachers' attendance, the construction of a new teacher house in Marar will help the Marar Primary School a lot!
Teaching teachers improves student results
September 2016: In a recent article The Economist argued that teaching teachers to be more effective in their job is the most effective way overall to improve educational results.
Top Eagle scholar Winnie reaches #1
September 2016: Eagle scholar Winnie ended #1 of the entire school in mid-year, continuing her top ranking from last year. Winnie joined our Eagle Scholarship program in 2011 and has been doing very well throughout.
Two Kamitei alumni awarded Tanzania National Parks internships
September 2016: Two Community Scholarship alumni, Leiylo and Kimolo, have been awarded internships with Tanzania National Parks. Both alumni started their community scholarships in July 2015.
Heartwarming message from scholarship alumni
September 2016: A few days ago Jane and Jeroen received an envelope and a small gift but surprising gift... it was a box of fresh eggs. Inside was a letter from Sylvester, a talented student from many years ago.
