MEALS
feeding hungry minds
To prevent hunger from hindering children’s learning and potential, Kamitei partners with local communities to run a free food program in select primary schools. Providing all students with a nutritious meal during the school day improves their health and allows them to concentrate on their studies instead of worrying about hunger.
School meals are an essential safety net, ensuring every child can access education. For the most vulnerable students, regular school attendance and learning are often hindered by illness, hunger, and malnutrition. Sometimes, the meal a child receives at school may be the only one they get that day.

We know that school feeding programs are not standalone interventions but serve as platforms to achieve crucial complementary education benefits.
In addition to increased nutrition, free meals contribute to better school attendance and helps students’ concentration for the entire day. We believe their overall well-being improves.

Kamitei’s free lunch saves me a long walk home and back, so I can use my lunch break to play with friends and read books! It also helps because sometimes there is no food when I go home for lunch, and I return hungry to school.
