Who
WE ARE

Kamitei Foundation is a Tanzanian-grown non-profit organisation transforming the educational landscape in rural communities across Tanzania.

Established in 2002, our foundation is named after the late Mrs Maria ‘Kamitei’ Motika who championed education despite not having received it herself.

Our Mission

To improve education opportunities of the children and youth of rural communities in Tanzania, and by doing so instil lasting positive change on the future livelihoods and prospects of the next generations.

Our Vision

Through access to quality education, rural Tanzanian youth build a prosperous future for themselves and their communities.

OUR Values

We believe in our 3Rs – being results-oriented, resilient and rooted locally. When we do this with kindness and care we earn the trust to Empower Minds & Transform Lives.

Kamitei operates with a pragmatic ethos that treats supported rural communities and individuals as partners and co-investors in our mission and vision. We know this shared involvement ensures participants are really committed to success and the longevity of change for their communities.

Results-oriented

We are committed to tangible outcomes, measuring success through positive changes in lives.

Resilience

We have built 15-year relationships with schools and communities, staying focused on positive impacts for the next generations in rural Tanzania.

Rooted locally

We embrace the principle of ‘thinking globally, acting locally’ by partnering with local schools and organisations to ensure our initiatives are relevant, effective and empowering.

Kindness and Care

We foster kindness and compassion, building trust and support within communities to promote growth and collaboration.

Trust

Trust is the cornerstone of Kamitei’s relationships built through transparency, ethics and consistent results.
