SCHOLARSHIPS
Boosting Graduation Rates
Kamitei believes that scholarships are essential because they broaden access to education and help reduce global inequities. Performance-based scholarships, in particular, have been linked to better student outcomes globally. Such interventions are crucial in rural areas of Tanzania, where educational resources are scarce, and learning outcomes are generally lower.
We give scholarships to talented school students and young people who stand out. All from low-income families, these high-fliers have the academic potential and determination to graduate from secondary school and higher education.
Eagle Scholarships
Eagle Scholarships support a student’s education from the last two years of primary school, through the first four years of secondary school, and ideally onto the two advanced levels of secondary school. We then assist the advanced level graduates with their university submissions and government loan applications.
Community Scholarships
Students who have completed their formal schooling after four years at secondary school can apply for a community scholarship to attend a vocational training college. These young people study courses such as hospitality, conservation and other courses that will directly benefit their community.
Global Stats:
“Statistics show that scholarship programs in Africa can increase enrollment rates by 10-15%, improve retention rates by up to 20%, and raise graduation rates by approximately 15-25%.
Scholarship recipients often achieve higher academic performance, with a 10-20% increase in test scores compared to non-recipients.”

Kamitei’s focus on improving the Eagle Scholarship program has brought significant benefits, with many students being accepted for boarding at regional secondary schools and over 80% of multi-year scholarship recipients ranking as top performers.
Impact of scholarships
Kamitei’s approach and effective program management has resulted in stronger academic results and higher graduation rates for scholarship students. These outcomes underscore the transformative impact of our scholarships on education for these students from rural Tanzania.

“I enjoy school because I love learning, and my teachers are kind. I work hard to earn a scholarship from Kamitei to further my education. Luckily, my home is only 15 minutes away, so I stay at school to study even after my friends leave.”
Helladius, Age 13
“Our partnership with Kamitei has been a huge help. They’ve supported us by training and hiring teachers, giving us books and lunches, and building classrooms. Thanks to them, our attendance has jumped from 60% to 97%, and our pass rate has increased from 70% to 82% in just six years. We’re grateful for Kamitei’s help and look forward to continue working together.”
